From the summit, you can see all the major summits of the Karakoram range including, K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrum.
For 40 Years, we have been organizing climbing expeditions and trekking holidays in Pakistan for mountaineering enthusiasts from around the World. Trango Adventure operates a 25-35 days long Laila Peak Expedition. We offer full boards and logistic services until the base camp. The duration of the expedition may be longer or shorter, depending on the client’s experience and available time.
Laila Peak Expedition starts from Islamabad. Our representative will meet and greet you at Islamabad International Airport, and transfer you to the group hotel. The rest of the day in Islamabad is at leisure to recover from the long journey. We will meet over dinner to give you a detailed briefing about the Laila Peak Expedition. After spending a night in Islamabad, you will take a breathtaking mountain view flight to Skardu, Baltistan the next day. On route, you will first glimpse great Nanga Parbat, K2, and the other stunning Himalayan & Karakoram Peaks. After 45 minutes, you will arrive in Skardu, check into your hotel, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon meeting your porters or exploring the local Bazaar.
Skardu is the Capital City of Baltistan, the getaway to K2, Deosai Plato, Mashebrum, Gasherbrum, Broad Peak, and many other famous Karakoram Peaks. Once, Baltistan was one of the biggest kingdoms of the Himalayas. The inhabitants of Baltistan speak the Balti language, a unique form of Tibetan language. English and Urdu languages are also widely spoken and understood.
In Skardu, trekkers and mountain climbers usually do their final purchasing and top-ups for their adventure journeys. The following day, you will drive along the Mighty Indus then Shyok River to the lush green Khaplu Valley towards Hushey. Hushe is a single-street traditional Balti village. Here, for the first time, you will sleep in a tent as there are no hotels. After spending your first night in the tent under the stars, the trekking part of your Laila Peak Expedition will begin. You will walk to Saicho, then to Laila Peak Base Camp.
We will set up our camps at the base camp of Laila Peak, and your nonguided climbing session of the expedition will begin from here onwards. We will camp at the Base Camp for the whole climbing duration. Our guide, Chef, and other staff will stay with you for the entire time. Our chefs will make healthy and nutritious foods during the trek and climbing. We believe that good nutritious food plays a vital role in outdoor sports. After the climbing period, you will follow the same itinerary back to Islamabad. You will spend one night in Islamabad, and then the following morning, we will transfer you to Islamabad International Airport for your flight back home.
We strongly believe that our experienced staff and four decades of expertise can make your “Laila Peak Expedition” successful.

INTRODUCTION:
Trango Adventure has a long track record of organizing the Laila Peak Expedition in Pakistan. We have had groups successfully climb Laila Peak on previous occasions. We designed our itinerary based on over 40 years of experience, which is the best in terms of acclimatization, safety, and enjoyment.
We intend to keep to the day-by-day itinerary detailed below, although there might be some flexibility due to local conditions or other factors beyond our control. If this is the case, your mountain guide will do everything possible to work out the changes to the itinerary to minimize your inconvenience.
Adventure travel requires an open and flexible attitude. You may experience extreme conditions, unpredictable weather, and last-minute changes to the itinerary beyond our control. The ability to work in a team is an important aspect of all our trips.

FLY BACK TO ISLAMABAD:
Arriving in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, after spending 2-3 weeks in the Karakoram mountains, is always a strange experience, and it does take a while to get used to the hustle and bustle of city life, especially the traffic. Your private bus will be waiting at Islamabad Airport to transfer you to the group hotel, and once you have settled in, it will be time to take lunch (unless we have experienced unusual flight delays). After lunch, the rest of the day is free for independent sightseeing or relaxing at the hotel. Your guide will advise you on the possibilities for sightseeing. Shopping for hand-made Iranian & Afghan rugs is usually a popular option. In the evening, we come together again for a celebratory meal at the hotel or in a local restaurant. It will be your last dinner in Pakistan, so we recommend you have traditional Pakistani food to make your Pakistan trip more memorable.
Note: The Skardu to Islamabad flight is always weather-dependent. Skardu is a ‘weather dependent’ airport, which means the planes will only fly here if the lines of the runway are clear to the pilot on the approach. Fortunately, the weather is mostly clear in the Karakoram region, but local weather conditions can bring clouds and rain from time to time. If you cannot fly due to bad weather, you will travel down to Islamabad by road along the spectacular Karakoram Highway.
In the case of flight cancellation, you will be driven down the Karakoram Highway to Naran for a night stay, and continue to Islamabad the next morning. You will arrive in Islamabad late afternoon.

CONTINGENCY DAY IN CASE OF DELAYS, ISLAMABAD:
Would you have flown to Skardu on your way into the valley, this will be a bonus, as driving on Karakoram Highway is a fantastic travel experience in its own right.
Should you have flown yesterday, then today will be another free day in Islamabad to explore this wonderful city. Your guide will give you detailed information about places you should explore in Islamabad. In the evening, we will have a final group meal at your hotel or the local restaurant. We recommend you have a traditional Pakistani dish as your last dinner in Pakistan to make your Laila Peak expedition more memorable.

Laila Peak Expedition 2025 information
Climbing A Mountain In Pakistan.
Pakistan occupies around 880,000 square kilometres of land, and it stretches from the Arabian Sea to the high mountains of central Asia. Pakistan is a country of contrasts, from expansive dusty plains in the south to the high snowy peaks of the Karakoram and the Himalayan mountains, in the Gilgit Baltistan region. The world’s three greatest mightiest mountain ranges meet here, the Karakoram, the Hindukush, and the Himalayas. Gilgit Baltistan is home to some of the highest and most breathtaking mountains in the world. Five of the fourteen highest peaks of the world are here, the mighty K2 (8,611 meters), the magnificent Nanga Parbat (8,126 meters), Hidden Peak (8,080 meters), Broad Peak (8,047 meters), and the mighty Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters).
Gilgit Baltistan (also known as the northern areas of Pakistan) has glaciers that are the largest outside the polar glaciers. The scope for climbing a mountain in Pakistan is virtually unlimited. A mountain climbing holiday in Pakistan will depend on a variety of factors, such as what type of mountain climbing you would like to do, how much experience you have, which season you would like to go to, and how many days you have available, etc. We have been organizing climbing expeditions in Pakistan for over 40 years, so we have the expertise to help you plan your next climbing expedition trip in Pakistan. Our expedition experts and travel advisers will be happy to assist you.
Climbing & Trekking Permit.
Once you have decided which mountain you want to climb in Pakistan, we will start the preparations and apply for the necessary permits. A climbing permit is required to climb peaks that are above 6500 meters, and for those peaks which are below 6500 meters, you only need to have a trekking permit. Please note that a trekking permit is required to climb all mountains in the Central Karakoram National Park area (CKNP), also known as the Baltoro region. We have extensive details about climbing and permit fees, rules, and regulations about mountain climbing in Pakistan. Trango Adventure will take care of all the permits.
Royalty Fees.
At the beginning of each year, the Gilgit-Baltistan Council publishes the official royalty fees for the upcoming summer and winter climbing season. This notification is publicly available and makes a distinction in terms of the mountain, trekking, and waste disposal fees for various areas and the two seasons. We can apply for the climbing Permits 4-6 weeks before your arrival in Pakistan. The royalty fee for the permit is payable to the Gilgit-Baltistan Council, and they are not refundable. You have the option to pay the royalty fees to the Council by yourself. For more information about the royalty fees, please check our Blog and news section.
Government Clearance.
All particulars of your Laila Peak expedition team members must be sent to us as early as possible to apply for government clearance to receive the climbing/trekking permit. Additional members can still be added or changed at a later date if needed, but it is best to send everything well in advance to prevent any delays at the start of your expedition. We currently advise applying not later than three months in advance, as unfortunately, we have noticed that the time for clearance is taking longer each year.
Helicopter Rescue Bond.
Each climbing expedition has to obtain a helicopter rescue bond of USD 10000 from Askari Aviation in Pakistan. Without the rescue bond, you will not receive any help if you need an air ambulance. If you do not use the rescue services, Askari Aviation will refund the bond at the end of the climbing expedition, minus the administration charges. We can assist with these arrangements if needed.
Environment.
All climbing expeditions in Pakistan are required to submit an environmental undertaking, which states that they will bring garbage/waste with them from the mountains at the end of their expedition trip. A separate environment waste management fee is charged to each expedition member for maintenance of the mountain environs, which is non-refundable.
Expedition Cargo & Climbing Gear.
Trango Adventure will take care of all the formalities to clear your expedition cargo, and we will safely store it before you arrive in Pakistan. We will not pay for any charges that can be incurred at the clearance office (during export or import) of your equipment. All non-consumable equipment that you bring in will be duty-free if you take it back with you. You are not allowed to trade in it. The consumable goods are similarly duty-free as long as you use them for the purpose they have brought in. The unconsumed materials have to be re-exported. We have a selection of well-maintained climbing materials which we are renting out to expeditions and items for sale, like different variations of climbing ropes and gas canisters.
Base Camp Staff & High Altitude Porters.
During the Laila Peak Expedition, there will be a complete kitchen team to take care of you at the Laila Peak base camp. The number of staff will always depend on the number of climbers on the expedition. However, for our standard climbing expeditions, ranging from 10 to -15 members, we provide one mountain guide, one head cook, one assistant cook, and one or two helpers who take care of base camp services. We have several experienced high-altitude porters to assist you during your climb, so contact us in advance to reserve the best most suitable high-altitude porters for you.
Cancellation.
In case you have to cancel your climbing expedition plans or want to postpone your trip, the royalty fee will be forfeited ( if applicable). It cannot be carried forward to a future trip or be refunded. The royalty fee is refunded if the government cancels a climbing permit for any reason. The cost related to our services will be (partially) refunded based on our terms and conditions.

Internal Flights.
Skardu Flight.
Skardu is a weather-dependent airport, so the aeroplane only flies here if the visibility is clear. Flights to and from Skardu are never guaranteed. Planes do fly more often than not, but flights do get cancelled occasionally in case of flight cancellation, you will travel by road. If you do not travel by road, you risk getting stranded in Islamabad, and you should be aware of companies that say they will only fly to Skardu as this might jeopardize the entire expedition trip. See our notes about travel on the Karakoram Highway for more details.
You must contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you specifically require any vaccinations or other preventive measures. Make sure that you are up to date with routine courses and boosters as recommended in the United Kingdom, diphtheria-tetanus-polio, and measles-mumps-rubella), along with hepatitis A and typhoid. Malarial prophylaxis is discretionary for this trip. Malaria exists in the area around Islamabad. However, the chances of urban transmission of malaria are low. In Skardu and the mountains, there is no malaria risk. On the Laila Peak expedition, you should also have a dentist check-up. An informative online resource is Travel Health Pro.
Dengue fever is a known risk around Rawalpindi and Islamabad. It is a tropical viral disease spread by biting during the daytime by mosquitoes. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available, so the best form of prevention is to avoid getting bitten. We recommend you take precautions to stay away from mosquito bites.
Insurance.
We highly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance for your trip with Trango Adventure Pakistan. We recognize the complexity and variety of choices in the insurance market, and we know that many of you either have your preferred insurer or have an annual multi-trip cover in place already. If this is the case, please ensure that your insurer is aware of your Adventure itinerary and can agree to cover the activities you are taking.
Trango Adventure does not provide any advice on travel insurance, though, we highly recommend that you have travel insurance that covers the activities which you are likely to be undertaking on your holiday in Pakistan.

This holiday involves going to a very high altitude. During your trip, you will be spending at least one night above 4,000 meters and or trekking to 5,000 meters or above. It is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a wide range of altitudes, but we must follow some simple rules to acclimatize successfully. From mid-June to August, you can expect to encounter temperatures as high as 40°C at Islamabad 32°C at Skardu, and 25°C. In June and early July, there will be a good covering of snow on the slopes leading to and from the Gondogoro la, and we may also encounter snow on the upper parts of Hushe Valley. At higher camps, the temperature may reach below 15 or 25°C. The weather is generally good in Pakistan throughout the summer season, with clear skies and little rain or snow. However, weather in mountainous areas is difficult to predict, and short-lived storms can occur at any time of the year.
